The year 1969 witnessed the wonder car, Chevrolet Camaro SS 396, which caught the fascination of many car lovers. Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors produced this “pony” car, with superb riding comforts and excellent facilities.
The car won millions of hearts, with the rocking muscle car back seat, the exclusive hood style and the unique sense of styling of each body part. The engine of the car was specially designed, which included three basic components – 325 and 350 bhp, and the 375-bhp L78. The wheelbase was 108.1 inches and the engine was ohv V-8 type. The fuel system was 1 x 4bbl, with a compression ratio of 11.0:1.
However, the SS 396 had some drawbacks. The nose part of the car was very heavy, with too much of pounds burdened on it and the torque was too high, and therefore the car had too much of weight on the front axle. As a result, the rear axle, which was very light compared to the front axle had to fight to get the power down in hole shots.
However, the Chevrolet Super Sport car has remained the enthusiast Camaro, till date. The body components include 300-bhp 350-cid V-8, F70×14 tires and stiff suspension. The interior was updated and it also introduced the hood ports, which were only exclusive to the SS 396.

While the 69 was so much better than the 70 and every one after, the 68 RS/SS was by far the better looking car.
I had the 68 RS with front and rear spoilers, and there was few cars since that were better looking, well, in my humble opinion.
