The sophisticated and stylish car of ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ fame – Aston Martin Vanquish S, was introduced as a deluxe tourer manufactured by Aston Martin. The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, more popular as Vanquish was designed by Ian Callum in 2001. However not until, Aston Martin’s flagship vehicle being recognized as official car for James Bond in “Die Another Day”, peaked its popularity.
The Vanquish S model made its first appearance in the 2004 Paris Auto Show. The new version had undergone a number of modifications–slight styling revisions, more horsepower and new wheels. Further the new model featured the Sports Dynamic pack, incorporating sportier steering, suspension, and breaking system.
The expiration of Vanquish’s production run was marked with the introduction of Vanquish Ultimate Edition. The automobile major announced that the last 40 cars built would have a new ‘Ultimate Black’ upgraded interior, personalized sill plaques and exterior color. The most enticing feature added to the Ultimate Edition was the conventional stick-shift manual transmission. Aston Martin priced the latest version at £13,250.

Despite its immaculate engineering, Vanquish was dragged to criticism for a number of drawbacks in its design. More so, the interior materials were deemed unfit in comparison to the car’s price and prestige. Before the launch of Vanquish S, the critics held that Vanquish was not appropriately differentiated from DB9, a $160,000 Aston Martin with nearly the same power and a bespoke interior, and being far lighter and less expensive than Vanquish. There were others with concerns over the unreliability of the gearbox’s performance while going for high-speed circuit laps and touchy response especially on hills.
The production of Vanquish version was terminated on 19 July, 2007 model year. Aston Martin has found its temporary replacement in DBS V12, however an absolute make over is awaited till 2010.

I dont agree with Aston Martin's decision to stop prodcution of the Vanquish S. I think it is one sleek looking car with lots of potential.
