The very creative, Giancarlo Zema Design Group, has come up with a unique innovation in the form of a semi sub-merged hotel. The hotel, nicknamed, Amphibious 1000, is designed for an UAE commission, and resembles to a large extent the underwater Gungan city of Otoh Gunga from the Movie Star Wars. As it is named such; the Amphibious 1000 floats both in and above water.
The land section of the resort comprises the residential and office constructions, a restaurant and a marina, while the on the waterfront can be found four semi submerged hotels, in the form computer mice or teardrops. The diagonal floor-to-ceiling windows of the hotel provide the guests with a illustrious view of the underwater arena.
Along with these, there are also eighty suites floating like jelly fishes anchored to the extended land of the resort. The Trilobis is another amazing feature of the entire process. This 20 meter aluminum yacht with hydrogen engines acts like water-taxis that transport the guests to their individual suites. The Amphibious 1000 is, indeed, a unique creation of one of the wonderful resorts in the world.

So is it actually floating or is it fixed to the sea bed?

This is not a wholly original idea, Clive Cussler speaks about such a floating hotel in one of his books and Pete, it’s floating.

And one of the James Bond villains had something like this as well. I do like it though, I’d probably pay to sleep out there…

Another UAE idea…they’ve the Palm island and the beautiful hotel (can’t remember the name of the hotel) in Dubai…it seems that they want to build all the great structures…

Hmmm…this looks like it could qualify as a modern “wonder of the world” kind of thing.

I think this is an awesome concept, I remember seeing a documentary on a hotel, which I believe was in Alaska, which had rooms made out of ice, but I think this one is much cooler. Like others who have commented, the first thing I thought of when I saw it was James Bond.
