Ed Hardy – The Tattoo MogulThe renowned American tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy was born in Iowa in 1945 and soon moved to Costa Mesa, California. He is acknowledged for his pioneering work of incorporating Japanese tattoo technique and aesthetics into western tattoo art. Hardy is revered as a fine tattoo artist for his innovative amalgamation of the refined sensibilities of “high art” aesthetics and graphical traditions of “low culture” tattoo art, common to postmodernism.

Hardy had developed an interest for art and especially for tattooing from a very tender age and continued with his career in “tattooing”. His five book series on tattoos “Tattootime” released in 1982 under the marque Hardy Marks Publications was a great hit. However, Hardy art reached its nadir when Ku USA, Inc. interested to produce a line of clothing that would be based on his art approached him. Hardy has grown into a brand now with Ed Hardy stores spread across New York, Los Angeles, Tucson, Singapore, Dubai and Sydney.

  • I'm not really a tattoo type of person but I guess that tattoo art definitely would appeal to some, and Ed Hardy seems like an expert in the area. If someone I know ever wants to get a tattoo, I'l be sure to refer them to Ed :)
