Great Wheel – A flying experience

Surpassing the heights of London Eye and the Singapore Flyer, the Great Wheel of China, of course not a twin to the Great Wall of China, offers a flying experience, towering at 208 meters (682 ft) would be the highest and largest of its kind, when completed in 2009. The wheel to be raised in the eastern Beijing’s Chaoyang Park has far greater capacity than the London Eye.

The giant ferris wheel would feature 48 air conditioned observation capsules, each of these would carry up to 40 passengers. More so, on a fine day even the Great Wall could be viewed in the mountains to Beijing’s north. The construction of Great Wheel is estimated to cost around 200 million Euros (139 million pounds), with tickets within affordable limits at the rate of about 100 Yuan (6 pounds) per head.

In Chief Executive Officer of Great Wheel, Stephan Matter’s view “It will allow the people of Beijing to rise up and see the city from a completely new perspective,” he said. “It is a flight.”
