Concept Camaro Coupe – The Dynamic Performer Take To The Roads

For the designers, Concept Camaro Coupe is a benchmark that could only be described by three words dynamic, strong and memorable. Its design carries influence of the classic Camaros (1967- 1969). With a lean proportion, short deck, long hood and dominant fender shape it offers excellent proficiency. The concept car with V8 engine has a complete fetish look overwhelmed by an angular package.

With a 40 years research behind the product, the performance of the coupe is reflected in its sound and drive. The interiors of the sedan accommodates four-pack auxiliary gauge that lends it a dynamic look. It has the fuel, battery and the temperature gauges placed on the center console. Focusing on the steadfast performance, the car has a bright instrument panel with speedometer and white-faced tachometer embedded in the smoked satin metallic bezels. However, it still blends the past with the contemporary technology highlighted through its analog gauges with some digital readouts. Adding to the glamour, the Camaro has platinum and black seats with firm side boosters.

For those who can afford the Camaro Coupe just an imagination of the car gets you racing.

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Small and cheapest car designed by India's company Tata Nano

World’s cheapest car is expected to take the roads soon, as announced by Tata Motors, at India’s biggest car show in the capital, Delhi. The car titled Tata Nano would cost around US$2,500 (£1,277) to the buyers – offering the consumers in developing countries an opportunity to afford four wheelers. According to the company’s chairman, Ratan Tata, who interprets Nano as a ‘People’s car’ – a safe, affordable and all weather transport, feels its launch was a landmark in the history of transportation.

Tata’s new launch would be available in two deluxe models with a 33bhp, 642cc engine at the rear, the four-door five-seater car is said to go on sale later this year. However, it lacks air conditioning, power steering or electric windows. Initially the company will manufacture around 250000 Nanos, the demand for which is expected to rise one million annually. Although the car suffices the European emission standards, the environmental critics anticipate Nano’s arrival would lead to greater air and pollution problems in already clogged Indian roads.

The ”Baby Bentley” with a new look

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Bentley Continental GTThe Bentley Continental GT popularly referred as the “Baby Bentley” is a darling with most celebrities.

The four seater deluxe tourer replaced the Rolls-Royce-based Continental R and T, to take the roads in 2003. GT became a hot property after it appeared on screen in the remake film ”The Longest Yard” with Adam Sandler, who featured in a co-star’s role. In September 2005, Bentley proposed a convertible version of the GT, the continental GTC. The new version was made available since the Autumn of 2006.

The car peaked its performance during early 2007, when four times World Rally champion Juha Kankkunen broke the World Speed Record on Ice on the frozen Baltic Sea near Oulu, Finland. The GT recorded an average speed of 199.86 MPH or 321.6 km/h in both directions on the “flying kilometer”. It attained a maximum speed of 207MPH or 331km/h. It broke the earlier record of 296 km/h set by Bugatti EB110 Supersport. The Bentley featured tires with spikes from Nokian. However in spite of demonstrating the best standard, GT required certain improvements in aerodynamic, roll-cage, calibration and low-temperature fuel.

Recently on August 1, 2007, the automobile major announced the details of a better equipped GT with a 600 bhp (610PS) powered engine, which is supposed to generate a top speed of 202 mph and a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds. The new version is expected to be down by 35 kgs. The exteriors would also undergo some minor changes with larger exhaust pipes and tinted grill in the front. The new model is set to be priced at £137,000.

The sophisticated and stylish car of ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ fame – Aston Martin Vanquish S, was introduced as a deluxe tourer manufactured by Aston Martin. The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, more popular as Vanquish was designed by Ian Callum in 2001. However not until, Aston Martin’s flagship vehicle being recognized as official car for James Bond in “Die Another Day”, peaked its popularity.

The Vanquish S model made its first appearance in the 2004 Paris Auto Show. The new version had undergone a number of modifications–slight styling revisions, more horsepower and new wheels. Further the new model featured the Sports Dynamic pack, incorporating sportier steering, suspension, and breaking system.

The expiration of Vanquish’s production run was marked with the introduction of Vanquish Ultimate Edition. The automobile major announced that the last 40 cars built would have a new ‘Ultimate Black’ upgraded interior, personalized sill plaques and exterior color. The most enticing feature added to the Ultimate Edition was the conventional stick-shift manual transmission. Aston Martin priced the latest version at £13,250.

Despite its immaculate engineering, Vanquish was dragged to criticism for a number of drawbacks in its design. More so, the interior materials were deemed unfit in comparison to the car’s price and prestige. Before the launch of Vanquish S, the critics held that Vanquish was not appropriately differentiated from DB9, a $160,000 Aston Martin with nearly the same power and a bespoke interior, and being far lighter and less expensive than Vanquish. There were others with concerns over the unreliability of the gearbox’s performance while going for high-speed circuit laps and touchy response especially on hills.

The production of Vanquish version was terminated on 19 July, 2007 model year. Aston Martin has found its temporary replacement in DBS V12, however an absolute make over is awaited till 2010.
