Join hands with ONE to wipe away AIDS and POVERTY from the world!

Monday, August 20th, 2007

“The curse of poverty has no justification in our age. It is socially as cruel and blind as the practice of cannibalism at the dawn of civilization, when men ate each other because they had not yet learned to take food from the soil or to consume the abundant animal life around them. The time has come for us to civilize ourselves by the total, direct and immediate abolition of poverty.”
- Martin Luther King, Jr.The One Campaign

ONE, the unified force of Americans coming from different backgrounds, following different faiths and engaged in different occupations, dream of one future – a world freed from the clutches of poverty and AIDS. The ONE campaign aims at uprooting global poverty by drawing public attention to issues like hunger, disease, illiteracy that afflict the poor, under-developed or developing countries of the world.

Directed at helping out the poverty-stricken populace of the world by providing them with the basic necessities of life – health, safe and clean drinking water, food, education, et al – certain ONE Strategies or ONE Action plans have been framed to achieve this goal.

A very positive and bold step taken so far has been to invite American Leadership and American Government to allocate a large share of the U.S. budget to fight AIDS and global poverty and by putting to end to all corrupt practices. Specific legislations calling for greater international aid, debt cancellation, fair trade practices/policies have been passed as part of the ONE campaign.

The ONE campaign invites support from everyone to add to its existing strength of 2.4 million people coming from all the 50 US states and belonging to reputed, non-profit humanitarian groups. You can support for the ONE campaign by backing noble causes and legislative priorities like Global Child Survival Act, Growth Act, Education for All Act and the Jubilee Act.

You can be an active member of the great movement to do your bit. Spread the message among your friends and relations, urging them to join the fight. As a votary, make use of ONE stuff, wearing ONE gear, ONE wristbands, T-shirts, etc. For organizing any event for ONE, you can make use of Facebook and MySpace.
